Final Installation PG dip. 2011
(small clip from the end of year installation of my work)
'Whataungarongaro te tangata toi tu whenua' - as man disappears the land remains - Māori proverb.
Titled and based on the Māori proverb this work explores the concept of connection and duration as they relate to the image we have of a moment in experience. The concept arises through the Māori notion of time 'I nga waa o mua' and extends to consider the connection between moments which are present to us, and those though not present are connected through Te Ao Wairua - as an ineffable presence through all duration.
Questioning how imagery might address the unseeable, the unknowable. Whataungarongaro te tangata toi tu whenua focuses on minor events in the natural environment, and their connection with major effects over extended duration.
